Abstract

An ostensibly ambiguous photograph of Boris Johnson at the Cop26 climate conference in 2021 generated critical news coverage because it reinforced a popular narrative about him – as a self-absorbed egotist – which provided a clear contrast with the public image of David Attenborough.
