Abstract
Research on children’s drawings in general follows methods and concepts in developmental research. This entry describes early concepts of intellectual and visual realism in drawing. It explains children’s drawing of objects and space systems, the impact of intelligence, perception, and neuropsychological status; and the onset of writing. It discusses structure, expression, and regression of drawing. It presents recent approaches that incorporate sensorimotor and executive skills with regards to drawing.
