Abstract

In line with the exhibition «Capolavori da leggere e da vedere» in the Palazzo Ducale del Gattopardo in Palma di Montechiaro 2025, this paper investigates the continuity of culture that links Gozzoli’s fresco of the Journey of the Magi in the Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Florence (1459-61) — completed shortly Cosimo de Medici’s death in 1464 — with T.S. Eliot’s poem of the same name from 1926. This comparison also offers an opportunity to address directly the question posed by the conference associated with the exhibition: «Arte e Cultura. Può esistere l’una senza l’altra?».
