Exploring the use of cut-and-paste collage methods for engaging new audiences with archival material. This kit was tested with community groups. The workshops were run in collaboration with the Special Collections Trade Union Archives and the Anti - Apartheid Legacy. The Deconstructing the Tangible Archive workshop kit was developed as part of The Tangible Archive Outreach Project - a series of workshops commissioned by Gina Pierce as part of her research into methods for engaging new audiences with archival material through creative, design-led activities.
This kit explores the use of cut-and-paste collage techniques as a way to invite participants to interact with archival content in accessible and imaginative ways. It was tested with community groups in collaboration with the Special Collections Trade Union Archives and the Anti-Apartheid Legacy Centre of Memory and Learning, and the resulting kit is designed specifically to support their ongoing public-engagement work.
