Scarso, Jacek Ludwig (2019) The pecking order. [Show/Exhibition]
Drawing on surveillance techniques such as CCTV cameras and internet data monitoring, bird-like characters watch over Tate Modern in a performative/VR intervention. Navigate your way through and explore the power relationships between and around us. How is power linked to the way we use space, and how we relate to each other within it?
The Pecking Order was a live/VR installation created by Jacek Ludwig Scarso in association with Tate Exchange at Tate Modern, London. The work involved the collaboration of lighting designer Jelmer Tuinstra, VR designer Sylvia Koloszewska, AVR London and Anise Gallery. The presentation also featured a range of roundtable discussions with a selection of speakers from the fields of art, performance, design and architecture. The project was subsequently featured in Aesthetica's "Future Now" Anthology/Exhibition 2021. It is part of a broader research strand in Scarso's work, framed by the concept of Critical Theatricality in the Museum Space.
