Abstract

A rationale for engaging small groups of young people in discussions in manner that encourages putting forward different viewpoints on an issue of controversy, exploring difference and not seeking a resolution. Conversation between participants in encouraged, rather than with the researcher. This is accompanied by a detailed 'how-to-do-it' list of techniques to develop such discussions.
