Abstract / Description
This dataset consists of a collection of interviews and questionnaires with students (videos, transcripts and written) and with locals interviewed in person/online (audio/transcripts), as well as a report by local NPO; this supports the research project "Crossing Cultures" and feeds into a more detailed understanding of the student residencies in the Italian village Belmonte Calabro, South Italy, which took place in collaboration with the local NPO La Rivoluzione delle Seppie in 2022 (semester 1):
1. How do the students on the residencies affect Le Seppie's presence in Belmonte and the area?
2. Does the presence of the students impact on how Le Seppie is perceived - by the locals, by the municipality, by the collaborators of Le Seppie (e.g. School of Commons)?
3. How do the visits t othe local area change the relationship between the locals and Le Seppie?
4. How do they contribute to the work Le Seppie does offer a support for the local activities (e.g. Happy-Lab) and for a wider context (e.g. Schools of Commons)?
5. How do the students contribute to the different aspects of the Casa (which is their Studio space, Le Seppie's lab and a community space)?
6. How do they interact with the Casa physically (e.g. moving furniture, building new stuff?) and socially, amongst each other and with others (e.g. contributing to School of Commons, cooking, networking etc.)?
7. Does the relationship with Le Seppie influence how the students develop their academic projects?
8. Does the relationship with Le Seppie during the residency change how the students think of their future profession, their future ambitions as architects?
