Abstract / Description
This article discusses the reform of military conscription in Russia and the rise of 'Citizen and Army', a Russian human rights initiative, which was set up in 2006 to focus on tackling the problems of the current system, characterised by systematic intimidation, violence, torture, blackmail and unpaid labour while the officers responsible are afforded blanket immunity.
