This chapter investigates the extent and nature of student engagement with artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the context of Translation Studies at London Metropolitan University. It explores which AI systems students are using to support their learning and assessment, and how critically they engage with these technologies and their outputs. Drawing on a combination of pedagogical reflection, analysis of student assessment submissions, and survey data from undergraduate and postgraduate translation students during the 2023/24 academic year, the chapter offers a uniquely student-oriented perspective and considers the implications for future pedagogic strategies. By centring student experiences, the chapter aims to inform more responsive and critically grounded approaches to teaching AI in translation education, aligned with both academic and industry expectations.
