Abstract / Description
The presentation will examine and reveal the outcomes of a project by students from London Metropolitan University, Interior Design (BA Hons) that engaged students as partners and encouraged them to give back to the city through a reflexive design proposal to develop a teenage library for the local community of Tower Hamlets. Within the learning and teaching constructivist approaches inclusive assessment and encouraging students to draw upon their own social capital was part of the Interiors cluster pedagogical practice, building their own narratives around the brief. Students were encouraged to undertake peer and self-assessment to create a feedback loop alongside the tutors, enhancing their personal and collective voice.
