London Met Repository Help

This page provides some basic help on using the London Met Repository interface. Academic staff needing to deposit publications in the Repository are also advised to consult the Repository User Guide for full details.

If you require assistance please do not hesitate to contact the Library team at openaccess@londonmet.ac.uk.

Browsing Repository Records

The Repository enables you to browse publications and records by any of the following:

  • Author
  • Department
  • Subject
  • Year of publication

To do this, select Browse from the navigation bar at the top of the screen. Then choose which field you wish to browse by e.g. "Author".

You will be presented with a list of choices depending on the field you selected. Simply click through to your chosen option to view publications under that heading.

Searching for Repository Records

The Repository includes a search tool, which can be accessed by entering a search query in the 'Search Repository' box at the top of the screen.

After entering a search, you can choose to refine your search. The search results screen allows you to narrow down your search in various ways, including by year, School/Department, Subject and Record Type.

You can also access the Advanced Search function from the search results screen by selecting 'Refine Search' and then 'Advanced Search'. The Advanced Search can also be accessed directly at this link

The Advanced Search screen offers various options for retrieving specific Repository records. For help and examples for any specific search option click on the question mark icon next to the field on-screen.

Accessing the full text of publications

Full text to London Met research publications is provided on Open Access in the Repository wherever possible within the constraints of copyright and licensing restrictions. The full text can be accessed in each record in the 'Documents' area.

In some cases there may be a delay after publication before we can make full text available (known as the 'embargo period'), as a result of publisher content sharing policies.

Logging into the Repository (London Met staff)

London Met staff can log into the Repository with their University IT account details using the 'Login' button on the top right of the screen. The Login button will then change to a Tools menu after successfully logging in.

When you first log in, the system will prompt you to set up a user profile where you can specify your School/Department and other details. You can access your profile at a later date by selecting 'Tools > Profile' from the main menu.

Depositing a new publication

To start a new Repository record, navigate to 'Tools > Manage Deposits' on the main menu and the select 'New Item'.

The depositing process is divided into a number of stages. You can move between these stages by using the 'Back' and 'Next' buttons at the bottom of each screen. This will guide you through the following stages in creating a new record:

  1. Item Type - for specifying the type of research output being deposited
  2. Upload - for adding the full text / content of the output
  3. Details - for adding the publication details such as title, author(s), dates, publisher etc
  4. Subjects - for specifying the subjects covered by the output
  5. rioxx / REF CC - for entering REF Open Access compliance information
  6. Deposit - for submitting the record for checking by Library staff

Please be aware that all new Repository records will be checked by the Library Content & Digital team after submission on the system and before they are made publicly visible in the Repository. We may contact the author in some situations to confirm details needed for the record.
