Abstract / Description

This research presents a collection of online interviews with students (videos/written) and locals interviewed in person (audio/transcripts) to support the research project "Crossing Cultures" and feed into the research of the project’s impact on BUILDING SOCIAL CAPITAL & GROWING THE ECONOMY in the Italian village Belmonte Calabro, South Italy:

1. Research the relationship between ‘integration’ and ‘economy’ of the Crossing Cultures project: How has the practice of ‘Studio South’ (during online teaching Studio 3’s students moved to Belmonte for 3 months during the Covid pandemic 2020) become a pilot to grow the new community in Calabria and help reactivate Belmonte?

2. Expand the theme of student residencies / comparison to artist residencies: How can this model of learning become a pilot for other rural and urban settings also beyond Covid?
