Abstract / Description
This chapter follows the career of Alain Delon - and in particular it explores the pairing of Delon and Jean Gabin in the popular heist films Mélodie en sous-sol (1963) and Le Clan des Siciliens (1969), both directed by Henri Verneuil, one of the most successful French auteurs of postwar cinema. The chapter discusses stardom and masculinity in French cinema in the 1960s.
