Abstract / Description
Black and white photograph showing an unidentified woman walking past a group of protesters holding placards bearing the messages 'Free safe and legal abortion' and '9000 Irish women come to England every year'. One of the protesters is Brid Boland, the others are unidentified. Notes on the back read 'Abortion campaign' and '17 March '83'.

Note: This was a picket on the steps of the London Irish Centre protesting against the holding of a referendum in Ireland to enshrine the prohibition of abortion into the Irish constitution via the 8th amendment. The picket was held on St Patrick's day at the London Irish Centre where Gemma Hussey TD, Minister of Education, was guest of honour.
