Hawkes, Stephen James (1963) Temperature limitations of stationary phases in gas chromatography. Doctoral thesis, Northern Polytechnic.
Abstract
The maximum and minimum temperatures at which a stationary phase may be used are shown to depend on the volatility and viscosity respectively. The manner in which the performance of the chromatograph is affected by these two properties is investigated theoretically, and methods of deriving the maximum allowable viscosity or volatility under any specified conditions are derived.
Viscosities and volatilities of a number of stationary phases are determined or compiled from available literature.
