Greenfield, L. T. (1952) The influence of pressing and sintering conditions on the properties of tin and tin alloy powders: a new approach to bearing metal problems. Doctoral thesis, Sir John Cass College.
Abstract
During the hundred years or so since Babbitt first patented a tin-base bearing alloy containing antimony and copper, alloys of this type have given good service in a wide variety of engines and machines. The excellent bearing properties of the tin-base white metals are universally acknowledged and for medium and low pressure applications these alloys, bonded to a steel or bronze backing, are still supreme.
