Siddiqui, Saima (2023) Investigation of IgG and IgA responses to neutralizing epitopes of HCMV and HIV. Doctoral thesis, London Metropolitan University.
Abstract
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a ubiquitous pathogen which does not manifest clinical symptoms in immunocompetent hosts but is a major cause of morbidity in immunosuppressed hosts and in foetuses infected in utero during primary infection. The HCMV envelope glycoprotein B (gB) plays a major role in entry of HCMV into all cell types and is the major target for the host immune response.
