‘Green shoots of change’: Safe & Together - early engagement and intervention with domestic abuse perpetrators. Evaluation report year 1

Garner, Maria and Kelly, Liz (2022) ‘Green shoots of change’: Safe & Together - early engagement and intervention with domestic abuse perpetrators. Evaluation report year 1. Project Report. Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit, London Metropolitan University, London (UK).

Abstract

Safe and Together is an internationally recognised systems change intervention which seeks to change both practice and systems in responses to domestic abuse, through three basic principles: keeping children safe and together with the non-offending parent; partnering with the non-offending parent; intervening with the perpetrator. The model was developed in the US to apply specifically to child protection, as it is here that a large proportion of DA cases become known to statutory agencies. The Safe and Together London Partnership, were funded by the Home Office perpetrator funding stream (2021/22) to implement the model across five London boroughs to improve responses to DA in Children’s Social Care.
This report presents evaluation findings from Year 1 of implementation.
