Abstract

The Chosen Haram is a non-verbal circus-theatre performance exploring queer Muslim identity, sexuality, faith, and substance abuse through physical storytelling. Created through a collaborative process, it challenges dominant models in circus by centering narrative coherence. Presented internationally between 2022 and 2024, the piece has been widely reviewed and integrated into teaching contexts.
