Abstract / Description

This article discusses racist attacks that occurred in Russia in 2008 and what the Russian Government is doing about it. The SOVA Centre on Nationalism and Xenophobia reported that in 2008 at least 87 people were killed and 378 wounded in racist attacks. This slight change from 2007 (at least 86 killed and 599 wounded) may result more from under-reporting, rather than any reduction in the number of attacks.
