In the last issue of Business Information Review, we explored the emerging role of virtual reality (VR) technology in the workplace. VR, augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) describe a suite of closely related technologies, each of which attempts in some way to break down the distinction between the virtual and the real. Unlike VR, however, AR and MR do not place the user in the simulated virtual environment, but attempt to blend the elements of the virtual and the real. In this edition of Out-of-the-Box we look at the development of AR.
